I received the Instrumental Solo Artist of the Year award at the 20th edition of the Canadian Folk Music Awards for my album Uphill ! Uphill is my very first album released under my own name. It features only original compositions and is entirely self-funded. Needless to say that receiving this award really means the world to me! Thank you to everyone at the CFMA for this honour!

Uphill is Jeremie Groleau’s debut album—a collection of 10 instrumental tracks composed between 2017 and 2022, released on October 2, 2023.

Blending intricate fingerstyle guitar with rich bluegrass arrangements, the album paints vivid musical landscapes and offers a fresh take on both genres. It’s a refreshing, immersive listening experience for fans of acoustic and roots music alike.

Jeremie is joined on the record by an outstanding lineup of musicians, including Michael Cleveland on fiddle, Justin Moses on dobro, Scott Vestal on banjo, and Brandon Bankes on pedal steel. Alongside them, Jeremie’s house band—Guillaume Lefebvre on bass, Nicolas Lafortune on drums and percussion, and Alexis Girard on electric guitar—brings it's own unique touch, creating a seamless and dynamic sound throughout the album.

Jeremie Groleau is a fingerstyle acoustic guitarist based in Quebec, Canada, with a lifelong passion for the instrument. Inspired by legends like Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, and Buster B. Jones, he has developed a unique style rooted in fingerstyle traditions. Over the years, his love for the guitar has driven him to create original compositions, creative arrangements, and captivating acoustic covers.
